Gurdeep Prewal

Co-founder & General Partner

Gurdeep lives and breathes the Rocana lifestyle, and the Rocana “better living” mission was born out of his deep personal passions for health and wellness. Before launching Rocana, Gurdeep spent 17 years in investment banking M&A and capital markets working on numerous landmark and award-winning deals and is a CFA charter holder. In 2018, he transitioned to venture capital, combining his financial acumen and savvy deal-making with his Ikigai-led mission of investing in purpose-driven consumer brands. Gurdeep is Canadian-born and Singapore-adopted.

Sumesh sachar

Sumesh's deep passion is creating value through bringing people together. He truly lives the "possible people" ethos. Sumesh grew up in Zambia, graduated from Pace University in New York and became one of the youngest CPA's in the NY state.  His professional career includes CFO, COO and CEO roles in industry agnostic businesses all over the world having lived in New York, Singapore (where he met Gurdeep in 2008), Mumbai, Dubai and Los Angeles. He has extensive operational and business management experience, investing personally in the Better living space since 2014 and through Rocana since 2018.

Raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. 10+ years venture investor and advisor to food, beverage, and sustainability startups. Graduated from MIT undergrad with a degree in Chemical/Bio Engineering and an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management. Youngest Director in history of BNP Paribas equity derivatives division and first director of Finance for Eataly USA.
